Date and Get Heartbroken... "At Least Once."

This is advice I often give.

But when I say it, I usually get awkward smiles—and I get it. I know it sounds strange at first.

People look at me like I’ve lost it 😜

But let me explain:

Dealing with losses is painful; it’s heartbreaking.

— You failed an exam—heartbroken.
— You lost a close friend—heartbroken.
— You went through a divorce—heartbroken.
— You didn’t clear a job interview—heartbroken.
— You missed out on that promotion—heartbroken.
— You invested money and didn’t get returns—heartbroken.
— You were passed over for a big order you wanted—heartbroken.
— You invested time in something that didn’t work out—heartbroken.

And the # 1 on the list is—relationship heartbreaks 💔.

Now, don’t get me wrong: not every relationship ends in heartbreak. Some lead to lasting a lifetime. (and if that’s you, I’m truly happy for you 😊).

But when you experience heartbreak in a relationship, you learn something invaluable—how to deal with your emotions.

You learn how to cope with loss.
You start building that muscle.

Often, we crave acceptance in relationships and end up behaving in ways that aren’t true to ourselves.

Moreover, we worry about what the other person thinks of us
…and mistakenly believe their whole life revolves around our actions —
Which fortunately isn’t the case.

Failure is good.
Rejection is even better.
And heartbreak? It’s the best teacher.

So, here’s me, my friend, wishing you the experience of heartbreak at least once. There’s something better waiting for you on the other side.
