A Teacher Learns More than they Teach

As I sat correcting the mid-semester papers of my Psychology students from IISc, I realized something profound – teaching doesn’t just share knowledge, it multiplies it.

Going through 50 answer sheets on the same essay topic, I discovered 50 different perspectives, each unique, insightful, and thought-provoking.
What started as an evaluation exercise soon became a deep learning experience – for me.

Each student’s interpretation added a new dimension to my understanding.
And every time I corrected an answer, I found myself learning more about the subject than before.

During my own college days, I never realized what teachers truly go through – revisiting the same topic again and again, yet discovering something new each time.

Today, my corrected papers are spread across the dining table, office desk, and even coffee shops.

In fact, this candid picture was taken by my significant other, Krishna Bhakar at our favorite café – as I was, yet again, learning through teaching.

The Takeaway:
– Teaching is not a one-way street.
– Every time a teacher corrects, explains, or guides – they too are being taught, refined, and renewed.

A big salute to all Teachers! Respect and admiration always – happy learning!
