The world is full of opportunities — invest in your soft skills to access them.
Companies offering 2.52 LPA to freshers isn’t the problem.
Rather, it’s the candidate’s fault for neglecting a crucial factor.
Having interacted with a wide range of professionals, I’ve found one factor that predicts whether someone will make it big in life more than anything else: SOFT SKILLS
In fact, it’s not just freshers but also people with several years of work experience who lack the knack for advancing further in their careers.
Now, before you argue, “Sudhir, my field doesn’t need soft skills,” let me break that delusion:
— You may have the best idea, but can you explain it clearly? — You may be the best coder, but can you present your work? — You may be a great engineer, but can you collaborate effectively? — You may be the top analyst, but can you make findings understandable? — You may be a skilled designer, but can you communicate your vision to clients? — You may be a strong data scientist, but can you turn data into actionable insights?
“You are hired for your technical skills but fired for your lack of soft skills” — a quote I often use.
No matter which industry you are part of, soft skills are always needed. Unfortunately, they are often overlooked.
So, if you want to grow and excel in your career, do this:
— Make reading a habit. — Observe good behavior. — Cultivate a growth mindset. — Stay dignified under all circumstance. — Ask questions and seek feedback regularly. — Take on diverse projects and responsibilities. — Engage with people outside your usual circle. — Develop strong communication and interpersonal skills. — Don’t get dragged into everything, choose your battles wisely.
…and above all, respect everyone, regardless of their age, gender, or designation.
Like anything else – Growth happens in uncomfortable situations; don’t shy away from them. Build a reputation for yourself beyond your technical skills.
Don’t let anyone hold you back.
The world is full of opportunities — invest in your soft skills to access them.
